SIBUR Is Awarded by the National Ecological Prize of 2009  

The company project of ''Development and Enactment of the Corporate Ecological Policy and SIBUR-Holding JSC Corporate Ecological Management System In compliance with ISO 14001:2004 Requirements'' won the contest for ''National Ecological Prize-2009'' in nomination of ''Global Ecology''. 

The sixth ceremony of awarding the National Ecological Prize took place in the Presidential Hall of the Russian Academy of Science on December 2, 2009.

The corporate ecological management system of SIBUR received its international certificate in April 2008 and successfully passed the first compliance audit in April 2009. The system encompasses 23 enterprises of the company. At present time, preparations are underway for several new enterprises to be included into the system.

Background

The National Ecological Prize was instituted in 2004 by V. I. Vernadskiy Foundation and the State Duma and supported by the Federation Council. Its objective is to find and encourage the most efficient R & D in such spheres as energy- and resource-saving, clean production, ecological education, enlightenment and social initiatives, as well as to draw attention of scientists, specialists, corporations and international public to the current problems of ecology and sustainable development. It is the only national-level ecological prize in Russia.

Members of the contest jury, selected among well-known specialists in the contest nominations, quality the quality of projects by the method of expert examination under the 10-point system of assessment. The project quality criteria include timeliness; ecological, economic and social effectiveness;  and compliance with international standards and agreements.
