History

Sibur was founded in 1995 on the basis of Russian gas processing and petrochemical facilities. The initial phase of the holding development was associated with the consolidation of petrochemical operations and the subsequent takeover by Gazprom Group. In 2007, Gazprom Group transferred Sibur’s shares to Gazprombank in exchange for its assets in the energy sector. The company has launched a number of major investment projects, which will allow it to improve its competitive advantages in Russia and significantly increase export potential.
