Krasnoyarsk Synthetic Rubbers Plant JSC
Krasnoyarsk Synthetic Rubbers Plant JSC began operations in 1952 (construction began in 1948). In 1961, an emulsion butadiene acrylonitrile rubber unit with a capacity of 6,000 t/yr was commissioned to supply oil and gasoline resistant rubbers for modern vehicles. In 1988 production capacity was expanded to 100,400 t. In 1992 a pharmaceuticals production unit was built, but subsequently mothballed due to poor sales.
In 1994, approximately two thirds of the plant’s production capacity was mothballed, leaving 34,300 t/yr, which now operates at 100% load. Maximum production of butadiene acrylonitrile rubbers of 87,800 t was achieved in 1991, after which demand went into decline due to economic restructuring.
The Krasnoyarsk factory currently manufactures the following grades of rubber: BNKS-18, BNKS-26, BNKS-33, BNKS-40, SKN-18, PVC-30 and various modifications of SKN-26 and PVC-30.
In recent years a fundamentally new type of rubber called dinelast has been put into production. This is a good substitute for chloroprene rubber in industrial rubber manufacturing operations. Chloroprene rubber is not produced in the Russian Federation.
