Plastics and Organic Synthesis
SIBUR is one of the largest Russian polymer manufacturers. SIBUR's share in the domestic production of polymers is 20% of polypropylene, and 18% of polyethylene. The Company also manufactures styrene, polystyrene, polymeric compounds, ethyl benzene, PVC, ethylene oxide, ethylene glycols, polyethylene terephthalate, geosynthetic materials, and caustic soda.
In the plastics manufacturing segment SIBUR aims for taking the leading positions in the Russian market through substantial increase in output of the basic products and construction of new capacities. A considerable part of the Company's investment projects is connected with increase in output of polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and PVC. Besides, a new area of business focus is developing actively, that is plastics processing. Manufacture of advanced geosynthetic materials used in road construction and oil-and-gas industry is also important for the Company.
