SIBUR Holding regards ecological safety and protection of health and the environment as inseparable aspects of its activities with strategic priority status.

The Company’s policies are fully aligned with the fundamentals of sustainable development, and its stated objectives of enhancing environmental safety at its sites and mitigating adverse impacts on the environment are consistent with the policies of the Russian Government.

While upgrading existing facilities and building new ones, the Company also seeks to improve its environmental protection service and to ensure environmental safety excellence with the help of modern scientific and technological developments while minimizing its impact on the environment.

The priority areas of the Company’s environmental policy are:

• Health and safety of SIBUR Holding staff and of the general public in the vicinity of Company sites;
• A healthier environment in the vicinity of SIBUR facilities; sensible and rational use of natural resources;
• Achievement of a level of environmental safety consistent with contemporary developments in science, technology and society;
• Identification of key issues for enhancing environmental safety and working conditions; emergency response plans at each operational site;
• Reduction in discharges and emissions of pollutants and waste as production levels increase, using new environmentally safe technologies, equipment, materials and greater process automation;
• Development of effective environmental monitoring systems at operational sites and compliance with environmental regulations;
• Application of advanced technologies to extract greater value from raw materials while maximizing output levels;
• Installation and upgrading of waste treatment facilities, water supply systems and slurry pits;
• Assessment of environmental risks at company sites for insurance purposes and for planning risk mitigation measures;
• Provision of information and active dialogue with all stakeholders, the public and local residents on Company activities and environmental protection in regions where the Company is present;
• Closer cooperation with federal and regional legislative and executive bodies on environmental issues; expansion of international collaboration on developing environmentally clean, efficient and cost-effective technologies and equipment;
• Ensuring that partner companies apply SIBUR Holding norms and standards in the fields of environmental safety, health protection and product quality;
• Revision, adjustment and improvement, where necessary, of SIBUR Holding’s health and environmental policy in view of domestic and international experience.
