Research and development

SIBUR’s research and development (R&D) programme is overseen by SIBUR Technology Centre comprising: SIBUR Innovations, a synthetic rubber research centre in Voronezh, NIOST, a chemical technology centre in Tomsk, and NIPIGAS, an engineering centre for gas-processing technology in Krasnodar. The programme undertakes the following key activities:

  • Information gathering, research and analysis of petroleum chemistry industry developments around the world, benchmarking of key performance indicators for SIBUR’s operations as compared to the best global counterparts, and preparation of patent reviews;
  • research on improvements to existing processes and products inorder to reduce operating costs and increase profits;
  • theoretical research to develop fundamentally new processes and products that can improve the Company’s competitiveness in the world market over the long term; and
  • implementing technical solutions for light hydrocarbons, associated petroleum gas and natural gas collection, transportation and processing.
