Moscow, 17 December 2021. In late November, MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International) released the results of its assessment of companies’ resilience to industry material environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks. Since last year, SIBUR has improved its rating by one notch from BB to BBB.
Among the key MSCI ESG issues, SIBUR's Corporate Behaviour (Governance Pillar) showed the most notable improvement. The Company’s business ethics practices have surpassed those of both Russian and international companies. In addition, SIBUR has an anti-corruption policy in place and monitors ethical standards at the top management level.
Water use efficiency was another notable improvement, with the Company’s water consumption intensity dropping by 18% on an annualised basis from 2017 to 2020.
Stronger positions in Russian and international ESG ratings are a testament to the effectiveness of SIBUR’s Sustainable Development Strategy, which addresses key aspects of the Company's operations in an ever-changing environment.
