Subscribe to newsAnapa, 4 June 2019. SIBUR-Yug, the Company’s corporate resort, has been equipped with a rooftop photovoltaic power station.
The system's total capacity is 471.5 kW, which is over half of what the resort facility consumes now.
It generates enough power for simultaneous operation of more than 1,500 laptops, or around 900 TV sets, or 225 electric kettles. It can also power 30 cottages.
Solar power will enable the resort to consume over 50% more energy, making it possible to install new equipment and enhance its functions.
The PV station is one of the most powerful rooftop systems in Russia.
“SIBUR undertakes numerous initiatives to protect nature and natural resources. As one of those initiatives, the solar power project will allow the Company to significantly expand the technical capabilities of its corporate resort without affecting the environment,” says Alexander Voytushenko, Project Manager and Chief Power Engineer at SIBUR-Yug.
“This is the largest rooftop power station in Southern Russia,” said Igor Shakhray, CEO of Hevel, the Russian contractor on the project. “The rooftop design is more efficient in terms of both power generation and minimisation of losses in transmission thanks to its proximity to the consumer.”
The project has been implemented in Anapa, which gets an average of 286 sunny days per year and whose climate proved to be a perfect fit for the station.
“SIBUR will continue to explore the potential of solar energy, including its industrial applications in those regions where the environmental conditions are right,” said Vladimir Tupikin, Head of Energy and Resources at SIBUR.
