SIBUR offers six new PE grades

Moscow, 27 May 2015. Six new film grades of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) manufactured by SIBUR’s Tomsk facility have been successfully tested by key consumers and added to the company’s offering.

The new products are designed for manufacture of a wide range of films, from general purpose films to special and combined multilayer applications such as greenhouse, protective, shrinkable, and modern food packaging films.

The new grades enable film product manufacturers to optimise processing, improve quality of their finished goods, and substitute some imported LDPE materials.

Grades 153B and 158B, for example, have higher resistance to thermal oxidative ageing. They can be used for manufacture of agricultural greenhouse films or various multilayer applications.

153BZ and 158BZ polyethylenes contain an additive that allows for material processing with advanced technology-intensive equipment. These grades are suitable for manufacture of all types of film products and eliminate the need to use additives to ensure stable quality under high processing speeds, because such agents are already included in the composition.

Another couple of new products, 153BEF and 158BEF polyethylenes, are also highly resistant to thermal oxidative ageing and contain special additives that improve slip and prevent blocking of separate layers of film in a roll. Such films are widely used in manufacture of household bags and other products that require good separability of film layers.

SIBUR has already accumulated vast experience in development and launching of new product grades. After the reconstruction of the PE unit at out Tomsk site is completed in 2016, our technical capability to expand the product range will increase drastically,” said Sergey Komyshan, Managing Director of SIBUR’s Basic Polymers Division.
