The Amur Gas Chemical Complex (GCC) construction site in May 2023

The new phase of construction at the Amur GCC involves the ECU, the water supply system, the liquefied hydrocarbon gas tank farm, and other facilities of the Complex.

When navigation started on the Zeya River this year, the first shipment of oversized and heavyweight equipment for installation of ECU arrived at the Amur GCC: pyrolysis furnace modules, compressors, separators, condensers and other units. A total of 162 units with the overall weight of 15,000 tonnes are expected to be delivered in 2023. The foundations for the equipment and process racks are being concreted, process rack structural steel installation is underway, and underground utilities, including pipelines and wells, are being laid on the ECU construction site.

The construction of the water supply system continues to provide river water to the processing facilities and potable water to the administrative and residential areas. Civil works are in progress on the site of the water intake facilities on the Zeya River with the design capacity of 94,560 m3 per year: there will be two pumping stations, two 1,000 m3 reservoirs, a 265 x 16 m water intake bucket and a transformer substation. The artesian water intake system (4 wells with a capacity of 46 m3/hour) has already been commissioned: potable water is coming to the builders’ camp, three water treatment units and a laboratory are up and running.

The construction of permanent warehouses and repair and mechanical facilities has started, foundations are being prepared and installation of metal frameworks for the buildings is underway on the main territory of the future complex.

The first spherical tanks for liquefied hydrocarbon gases have been installed. There will be a total of 15 tanks with capacities from 600 to 2,400 m3 in the tank farm.

The construction camp has opened a health center where project workers can get medical care, undergo checkups and vaccinations.

The Amur GCC and SIBUR continue developing a friendly urban environment in Svobodny: an environmental festival and a regional forum on corporate volunteering were held there in May, a program for the business community development was launched, soccer and basketball schools were opened, and 6,500 pine seedlings were planted in the arboretum of the former Amur Forest Experimental Station.
