In 2008 the company has spent a total of 2.1 bln RUR on social programmes showing a 19% increase against 2007. Average salary has risen 21%. As SIBUR continued the implementation of the programme to involve all its subsidiaries in the corporate health care insurance plan, by the end of 2008 90% of SIBUR plants were covered by this insurance incentive. Also in 2008 SIBUR has financed training programmes and qualification improvement courses for over 30 thousand of its employees.
In terms of Health and Safety improvements SIBUR showed a 38% drop in injury rate and throughout 2008 there were no major accidents or fires at operating sites due to comprehensive accident prevention measures implemented in the previous years. Total spending in this area made as much as 526 mln RUR.
In 2008 SIBUR successfully confirmed its corporate environmental management system meets the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 standard. Actual funds allocated for Environmental Quality Management programme including the implementation of unscheduled environmental protection measures increased times 2.2 and totaled about 2 bln RUR.
SIBUR 2008 charity contributions made over 630 mln RUR, including 352 mln RUR endowed by SIBUR in terms of partnership programmes supported by regional and local authorities.
